ABOUT THE GLOW STICK 5K
The Contest to Win Money
Background Story-- Taylor Morris was born and raised in Cedar Falls. He joined the Navy after high school. During his deployment to Afghanistan, he stepped on an IED resulting becoming an quadruple amputee. The amazing people that make up the Cedar Valley rallied behind him to help at the first annual Glow Stick 5k.
Taylor was humbled by the amount of support he had received and was inspired by the amazing people that make up the Cedar Valley. They wanted to continue fun event but shift the focus of the event to give back to other inspiring members of the community.
How do we pick the community member that wins ALL the proceeds? We let the community nominate those they find inspiring. We post their story. The week before the race the community votes on which story in most inspirational. The winner receives all the race proceeds!
This is our fourth year putting on the Glow Stick 5K. Each year we have raised more and more money but the only way you could help us raise the money was by actually running the race (your entry fee is the donation). This year, we wanted to allow anyone to donate! If you have a dollar or a million dollars, we encourage you to donate that money to someone who inspires us! Any amount helps!!!!
Each year we have raised money for someone in the community that was nominated by YOU and voted by YOU. If you know someone or an organization that inspires you, submit their information below. Nomination will close August 1st and we will begin voting for the most inspirational story! Help us Help Someone Else!
